Meet Jackie Cort, also known as Wax Slayer, creates large, intuitive abstract paintings filled with bold color, movement, and spontaneity.
Jackie works primarily in encaustic—the art of painting with molten beeswax and a blowtorch. She finds great satisfaction in working with the natural flow and scent of the wax while combining it with vivid pigments. Her subject matter develops freely, inspired by the moment and the creative process itself.
Jackie also teaches encaustic and mixed-media workshops, encouraging people of all experience levels to let go, explore, and express themselves. Her fall and winter classes at the Schack Art Center include “Letting Go: Intuitive Painting,” along with several other workshops.
Jackie believes we are all here to create and express ourselves, especially in community. The world is a better place when we share our many voices.
