A group show of All Aboard participants, featuring on August 21st the work of Regional Artist Ru Otto who is a 75-year old power chair diva, writer and community organizer/resident artist living and working in her studio loft at Artspace Everett Lofts, in Downtown Everett, WA.
She is a lifelong visual artist and writer, and spent much of her life traveling the U.S.A., Europe and Spain, visiting and living in rural women-only communities. She spent several years in the Ozarks teaching rural skills at Dragon Women Outpost, a shelter for battered and disabled women.
As she has become less mobile through the years due to the late effects of polio, she has retired her maps and now ambulates the city streets, exclusively, in a Quantum Edge power chair.
All Aboard’s new location is now at 2828 Rockefeller Avenue in downtown Everett. Open from 5pm to 7pm. For more info to to www.allaboardwa.org or https://www.facebook.com/wa.allaboard
All Aboard ‘s mission is to create a welcoming and inclusive space where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can build friendships, learn new things in fun ways, and enjoy a vibrant social life. Whether it’s a science experiment, a healthy snack class, or simply an afternoon of art and laughter, every activity is designed to help our participants feel connected, confident, and celebrated. We know how important friendships and community belonging are to a good life and we are proud to offer a place where those connections can grow.
